Slow Food UpDeRiVa is pleased to announce the First Annual Ramp Festival on May 3-4.

The Ramp Festival is a new locally-produced public event in Sullivan County, NY and Wayne County, PA that will help to raise awareness and appreciation for local agriculture and the environment in the Upper Delaware River Valley.

This year’s Ramp Festival will include four interlinked events: a Saturday morning Wild Edible and Wildflower Walk, a Saturday afternoon Taste Workshop, a Sunday afternoon Ramp Tramp, and a Sunday outreach and educational effort at Sullivan County’s first Farmers’ Market of the year.  All events are open to the public, and children are encouraged to participate.  We have produced a cookbook with recipes featuring ramps, and we ask that local businesses join us and feature ramps over the course of the weekend.

The Wild Edible and Wildflower Walk will be led by Amy Gillingham and Anne Hart.  The Ramp Tramp will be led by Wes Gillingham.  These members can speak knowledgeably about foraged foods found in our region, including not only ramps, but also fiddleheads, nettles, sorrel, wild arugula and more.

The Taste Workshop and the Farmers’ Market Outreach are educational events about locally-produced foods in our area – including ramps, trout, pork, lamb, greens, apples, pears, beets, potatoes, yoghurt, cheeses and baked goods, with messaging about preserving the unique agricultural landscape and environment of the Upper Delaware River Valley region.

The Ramps Cookbook is a collection of member recipes, compiled by Amy Miller.

Join us and help make this an event to remember.  Feature ramps at your Store, Restaurant, Café or Bed and Breakfast.  We will have local sources of ramps available for purchase.  Flour Power Bakery in Livingstone Manor is partnering with us to make unique baked products available for your business.
